Saudi Arabia Bombs Yemen’s Mukalla Port Over Weapons Shipment

Saudi Arabia carried out airstrikes Tuesday on the Yemeni port city of Mukalla, targeting what it says was a shipment of weapons and combat vehicles intended for a separatist force backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to a statement released by the Saudi military and the Saudi Press Agency, the strikes were launched after two ships arrived from Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast carrying the arms, which Riyadh described as posing an imminent threat to regional security and stability.

The operation was portrayed as a “limited military action” aimed specifically at the unloading of weapons and military vehicles at al-Mukalla port. Saudi officials said the attack was conducted overnight to minimize collateral damage.

There has been no immediate official comment from the UAE, and it remains unclear whether there were casualties in the strikes. Analysts suggest the incident could further complicate the fragile dynamics of Yemen’s long-running conflict.
